Genesis, Hyundai’s new luxury unit, is banking on the invisible touch of complimentary services to woo customers to its G80 mid-size and G90 full-size luxury sedans. Like a number of its competitors, Genesis will offer complimentary scheduled service for three-years or 36,000-miles. The brand notes that it will cover a number of recommended maintenance items including engine oil and oil filter changes, air filter replacements, and tire rotations.
-Although Genesis’s complimentary service falls short of that offered by Jaguar in both time and miles (five-years or 60,000-miles), the Korean luxury brand is hoping to set itself apart from the competition with its unique complimentary valet program, wherein Genesis customers can schedule a service appointment and have their vehicle picked up by a service valet at a time and location of their choosing. According to Genesis, service appointments can be scheduled online, by phone to a dedicated call center, via the Genesis mobile app, or through the vehicle’s “Connected Services” function within its infotainment system. Genesis will supply a loaner car free of charge and also lets the customer choose a time and place for the valet to return their G80 or G90 once servicing is complete.
-Additionally, the brand’s Connected Services are also free of charge for three years. The services include a range of functions via three packages: Connected Care, Remote, and Guidance. The trio of packages offer a combination of safety and convenience, mobile, and navigation functions. Among them are automatic collision notification, maintenance alerts, app-based keyless entry and start, as well as the ability to search for a destination via the app and send it to the vehicle’s navigation system. Likewise, SiriusXM satellite radio, as well as traffic and data services, and downloadable updates to the navigation system’s SD card are complimentary for three years. Unsurprisingly, Genesis takes a page from Hyundai in offering a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty on its cars.

The 2017 Genesis G80 is little more than a renamed Hyundai Genesis, a car we’ve lauded for its value and comfort since it debuted for 2015, while the Genesis G90 is an all-new vehicle that replaces the Hyundai Equus. Look for Genesis to add a pair of SUVs and a sports coupe to its model line in the coming years.
